Support for National Adoption Week

Support for National Adoption Week

To celebrate National Adoption Week, we at Cornerstone wanted to say a big THANK YOU to all our mentors and sponsors who provide support to adoption and fostering families and highlight how this network is growing.

Over the past three years Cornerstone has reached out to more than 340 families offering one-to-one mentoring and training on our Restorative Parenting courses.

The impact of this has helped prevent adoption breakdown, pulled families through a crisis and shown the power of the peer when it comes to support.

  • 100% of families with mentors stated that it enabled them to talk freely about their worries
  • 80% said having a mentor helped normalise their situation
  • 64% of families stated that mentoring helped their parental confidence

And we are not stopping.

Last week, Helen attended the National Children and Adult Services Conference to present our new and innovative approach to adoption and fostering training for parents and social workers. Next month she will be at the Public Policy Exchange at Westminster discussing how we can Improve Outcomes for Looked After Children.

And exciting news for National Adoption Week is our launch on Tuesday, October 24 of our Foster Carer and Adopter Recruitment and Training in VR.

This is a global first! Leading figures from the world of children’s social care, film and technology will meet at City Hall in London’s Living Room for this unique event with EY where we will demonstrate how virtual reality can be used to tackle the increasing pressure on care services.

Our 360 immersive film on fostering will be shown along with our powerful VR experience on adoption which form part of our Restorative Parenting Training. By using this technology we can harness the power of seeing things through the child’s perspective.

National Adoption Week is also a chance for us to thank all our sponsors who have supported our mentors through our Mentor Rewards scheme.

This year we have had the amazing backing from  Borrow My Doggy, Merlin Pass, Meraki Festival, Kidzania, Storytime, Perkbox, Go Ape andCafé Nero. They add to the legacy of support from many others including  Haven, Virgin Active, Rush Hair and Debenhams.

Support is the theme for this year’s National Adoption Week and we just want to THANK YOU for your support.
